At the risk of seeming self-centered, I offer Jace's Scots relatives: Clan Montgomery. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clan_Montgomery

The Montgomery clan has a long history of gaining (and occassionally losing) wealth and status. Legends surrounding the family hint at fae connections and blood ties (which may provide a pseudo explanation for the American branch of Montgomerys that Jace is part of). The fae connection in particular might provide some ideas: In the world of the X-Men, surely some variety of them might even still exist. (Perhaps a Sidhe takes an interest in one of the students or teachers, or just about anything else.)

And yes, Field Marshal, Bernard Montgomery, 1st Viscount Montgomery of Alamein, is part of the family. (Whose troops were largely responsable for expelling the Nazis from Africa, and then a prominent commander in Italy and North-West Europe, where he was in command of all Allied ground forces during Operation Overlord and then until after the Battle of Normandy.)

So if there is a need for a cast of Scotish eccentrics (Muir island personel, inhabitants of Stornoway or Ullapool), the Montgomery Clan is ripe for the taking. As I imagine them, they regard Jace's family as sort of "cousins made good" and still consider them part of the clan despite almost one hundred and fifty years of direct seperation. The clan bond remainds tight and the two branches remain in touch in family and business matters.

The Montgomerys are a Lowland clan. Something to bear in mind.

Yes, I know. That's where all their holdings are, in the vicinity of Glasgow, with Skelmorlie Castle, near Largs, as the current seat of the chiefs of Clan Montgomery.

I admit there are still a few details to be worked out.

But as I said before, clan bonds are tight. If they learn Jace is here, someone might show up.

I wonder if there is any remaining rivalry between them and the Cunninghams or the Stuarts anymore. I've heard that in Scotland old rivalries die hard...even ones from the 15th and 16th centuries...

Aww...

I like the idea of Ms. Heth having a Sidhe would-be paramour/stalker...

Or Misty and Juma stumbling across a portal to Avalon...

Or Vin and Bear getting harassed by a Pooka...

The Sidhe are, I believe, predominantly an Irish myth. The Hebridies has it's own mythological creatures, such as the Blue Men of the Minch.

Besides. I'd cut his fairy ass down, then where would we be in magical/mutant relations.

Dr.Strange in particular would be very pissed.

Plus what if I met a cute fairy girl or something? Then I might stray from my true love.

I concede to your superior knowledge of mythology.

Ah, well. There's always the Highlanders...

"MacLeod!"

Kiwa: Now that does suggest some problems. The fae don't take rejection very well.

Vic: A poor mortal girl wouldn't stand a chance. Vic could just disappear into a fairy ring one day...

Look on the bright side: They'd be the same height. (*Ducks*)

You are perhaps aware that the orange sherbet girl is already fairly mythological?

I do do well in these situations. She might compliment me on my jetpack, I compliment her on her wings, fairy dust clouds my judgement. Help keep me from falling astray

This obviously is dead, so to the graveyard it goes.
